Membership: Join the NAACP Morgantown/Kingwood Branch

You do not need a specific title, profession, or background to be part of the NAACP.
You do not need to have all the answers.
You only need a desire to stand for justice and show up for your community.

The NAACP Morgantown/Kingwood Branch welcomes people from all walks of life—across race, age, profession, identity, and experience—who believe in fairness, equity, and the power of collective action.

If you are reading this and wondering whether you belong here, the answer is yes.

Why We Want You

Our work is strongest when it reflects the full diversity of the community we serve. We want members who bring different perspectives, lived experiences, skills, and passions to the table. Whether you are a student, educator, healthcare worker, faith leader, artist, parent, retiree, business owner, or simply someone who cares deeply about social justice—your voice matters.

We want you because:

  • You care about civil rights and human dignity
  • You believe in giving back to your community
  • You want to learn, grow, and be part of meaningful conversations
  • You understand that change happens when people come together, not when they wait on others to act

You do not have to be an expert. You do not have to commit to everything at once. Membership can look different for everyone.

What Membership Looks Like

Being a member of the NAACP Morgantown/Kingwood Branch can include:

  • Participating in community education and dialogue
  • Supporting voter education and civic engagement
  • Joining committees that align with your interests (Education, Advocacy, Community Outreach, and more)
  • Attending meetings, events, or virtual discussions at your own pace
  • Helping shape the future of equity and justice in Morgantown and surrounding communities

Some members lead. Some organize. Some listen, learn, and support. All roles are valuable.

A Community Commitment

The NAACP has a long history of advancing civil rights through advocacy, education, and collective action. At the local level, that mission becomes personal. Our branch is about neighbors supporting neighbors, building understanding, and working toward a more just and inclusive community.

When you join, you are not just adding your name to a list—you are joining a community that believes progress is possible when people care enough to act.
